The Tale of the Drifting Polar Bear 北極熊漂流記

Project type

Hong Kong

The Tale of Drifting Polar Bear uses one of Jane's favourite gemstones since she was a child, Aquamarines, both in its raw and processed forms, as the foundation. The hollow design of the polar bear is outlined by diamonds and white gold, the face decorated with black sapphires. This piece is one of Jane's earliest jewelry designs, exploring the relationship between the nature and human civilisation from an empathetic, pure-hearted "spectacle".
The Tale of Drifting Polar Bear won the HKTDC's 16th Open Group Jewelry Design Competition, helping Jane land her first of many creative awards only within months of pursuing her career as a designer.
Greenhouse gases created by human have been increasing the melting rate of north pole's ice causing Roland, the polar bear to drift apart from his family while he was napping on the ice. This is how he started his journey on his own.
